Our Mission
Algoa Bay Council for the Aged will at all times:
- Adhere to the principles contained in the United Nations “Declaration of Rights of the Elderly”
- Campaign against Elder Abuse and take a leadership role in promoting the concept of community care of older persons
- Work as a dedicated & compassionate team to bring about a brighter future with a better quality lifestyle for those we serve
- Make services, including accommodation and care, appropriate, accessible and affordable to all regardless of any affiliation
- Prepare people for the challenges of aging through skills Development
- Forge relationships with funders whilst maintaining accountability, develop and operate projects that will generate income, improve financial viability and enable funding of services to the needy
- Work towards a supportive and nurturing environment for those we serve, our volunteers and our staff
Our Vision
Algoa Bay Council for the Aged will be a recognised, dynamic, financially viable non-profit organisation providing a diversity of services to older persons and those with similar needs in the community of the Eastern Cape. These services will promote independence and empower people to lead meaningful and fulfilled lives.

Algoa Bay Council for the Aged has donor deductible status by virtue of being a register Public Benefit Organisation. This enables ABCA to, under restrictive conditions, issue 18A receipts for donations of a specific type and nature. Not all donations will qualify for 18A status and the qualifying criteria are as determined by the SA Revenue Services in legislation.
